Carn Coldstores Selects TouchStar’s TS8200 Handheld For New State-Of-The-Art Cold Storage Facility

Following a £9million
investment in a brand new cold storage facility in Portadown Northern Ireland, Carn
Coldstore, a leading provider of temperature-controlled services, has selected
TouchStar’s TS8200 handheld mobile computer to support real time data capture
within their order picking processes.

Ireland, a leading refrigerated distributor in Ireland with multiple sites
though out the country, Carn Coldstore’s state of the art chilled and frozen warehousing
services include storage, order picking and product invoicing services.
The brand new 52,000 sq
ft warehouse facility, one of a kind in Ireland, stands at 17.5 metres high,
allowing products to be stored from -25 to +5 degrees. The large investment in
the new facility integrates the most advanced equipment with the objective of
creating an environmentally friendly, state of the art operation that delivers an
efficient and reliable service to customers.
One of the key components
that supports Carns service offering is data capture. Data capture provides a
key role in supporting accurate and efficient order picking within their operations.
With the development of the new site in Portadown near completion, Carn turned
to UK based rugged mobile and scanning specialist’s TouchStar Technologies to
review their requirements, selecting the in-house manufactured TS8200 handheld
computer as the best fit hardware for their data capture requirements.

Coldstore operations with technology that guarantees continuous operation,
maximising output and increasing workload efficiency.
