Touchstar fuels growth strategy with new appointments  

Manchester, UK : 14th December 2017  

Manchester-based mobile computing solution provider Touchstar Technologies PLC has embarked upon an aggressive growth strategy. Mark Hardy, CEO, explains: “Touchstar has been an established provider of mobile computing solutions to the general logistics, oil & gas and airline sectors for over three decades. We’re renowned for the quality of our hardware and the ‘fitness-for-purpose’ of our software solutions and this has enabled us to maintain our market position against robust competition.  

The past twelve months has seen our R&D department successfully complete the development of a range of new products including high specification cloud based management control software. This new suite of products has broadened our commercial appeal and we are planning to market our solutions into a number of new vertical sectors and geographical markets. In order to do so, we recognise that a significant investment in sales and marketing resource is required. To this end, we’ve made several key appointments and these individuals will be instrumental in driving Touchstar forward.”  

New appointments  

Chris Dalton has joined TouchStar’s Bulk Distribution division as a Business Development Director. Chris has been in the logistics arena for 40 years, starting as an engineering apprentice with National Bus Company. His career has grown into sales, marketing, manufacturing, operations and IT.  

In the last 20 years Chris has primarily operated in the Oil and Gas sector where he has held senior positions within Heil Trailer International, Hoyer, Reynolds Logistics and Lomosoft GmbH. His broad experience will bring strong sector expertise and management to TouchStar.    

Gordan Hyland has joined to lead TouchStar’s OnBoard Retail sales team. Gordon has been involved in software sales for over 14 years with a focus on remote data capture and enterprise solutions. His experience is predominantly in food, pharma, defence and aerospace.  

In his new role with TouchStar, Gordon will be offering Point of Sale and Back Office solutions to airlines and their suppliers across Europe.     

Sohil Ahmad joins TouchStar’s EPOD division as a Business Development Manager. Sohil brings a wealth of knowledge to the role as a high-achieving solution sales manager with more than 10 years’ experience.  

Sohil previously held the position of National New Business Development Manager at telematics and fleet management specialist Masternaut where he was responsible for new business and selling Masternauts enterprise grade SaaS platform, hardware and consultancy directly into the retail, manufacturing, public sector, transport and services industries.     

David Hall has joined on a permanent basis as a Marketing Executive after undertaking several successful freelance projects for Touchstar. David will run the full group exhibition schedule and provide marketing support for the bulk logistics sector.  

David studied English literature at the University of Sheffield before completing a post-grad qualification in contemporary literature and film studies, whilst working as a digital copywriter. He is now working towards a Level 4 certificate from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
